Kings don't have to take 10 tests in the span of 4 days. I hate you, school.
In other news, I think it's time that you and I arranged a heart to heart. Lion King is in my head, guys. I adore The Lion King. It's just so perfect and the essence of my life, really. I think that movie shaped me significantly. I hadn't watched it since I was like 9, and I watched it and I saw so much of who I am through Simba, Nala and Mufasa alike.
So now I'm pretending that I'm Simba.
Free to run around all day, free to do it all my way.

Dear Jessica (yes, you)
I am returning to my blog for about two minutes to say this: Jessica Teng is completely ridiculous and gmail is the sexiest thing ever. If she got a gmail and actually used it, for goodness sake, she would know that the google interface works way better than whatever hotmail claims to be. Additionally, only old ladies who forgot that email has moved on from aol use hotmail, and sexy teens (plus the general population) use gmail. Gmail is sleek, polished and crisp; hotmail, aol, Yahoo, and all the mierda-mail* are just glitchy, outdated and boring.
*only people who go to Spanish camp (me) or people who speak Spanish (hot, sexy, and generally awesome people) would get this hilarious joke. The rest of my 4 readers can use google translate.
Much love,
Pili (:
P.s. I think you can tell I'm a Mac person just by the pure passion and stubbornness of this post. I am not ashamed.
P.p.s. I still love you, Jess, but really, come to gmail. We (Catia and I) need you.

Not to make this dramatic, but..
...I dunno if I'll keep blogging, kiddies. I've attained a journal and spend a good chunk of my nights writing in it. This was basically a journal for myself in all honesty, and I'm not at all proud of really anything that I've posted. That sounds a bit depressing... Woops. Anywho, I really want worthwhile things to keep forever in my journal, and I write completely from the heart there, while on here I censor myself because the internet is big and people have access to everything nowadays. Also, getting on here and writing something that I think people will enjoy is a lot of work for some strange reason. I mean, I know you guys will be supportive even if I write the stupidest post ever about how I think iphones are cool because you can't hear when I'm texting and how I eat pears all day. I just feel like in a journal the only one judging it will be my future self who is going to be crazy awesome and old and stuff.

Whee blogging is fun!
This is going to be a veryveryvery short post, but I got the most fantastic gift evereverever from a friend today and I am happyhappyhappy! She made me this journal with my name on it and all scrapbooked and adorable. There are RHINESTONES. RHINESTONES. I know rhinestones are sometimes thought to not be that awesome, but they are. I would show you a picture, but it has my name on it. Anyway, I am very happy. I plan to use this lovely piece of lovely as a Junior year journal. Cute alliteration, I know. Thanks. Anyway. That's it.
I also got to voicechat the Tiakon today. She makes me happy. The end.
Oh, also. 5 more days of school left. 7 days until summer.
WHEEEEEEEE! Here I go!

Gabi is looking out for this post, and here it is. Feel special, Gabs.
I don't have a name. Well, not one for little internet creeps to know. If you are a good creep, you probably already know anyway.
Is your name on Blogger your name in real life? If not, what letter does your real name start with?
Uhm, no. Although I think Nala would be the best name ever, other than my real one, which starts with the same letter as Thailand.
Astrological sign?
Wait, people are supposed to know that? I think I'm Cancer. For a long time I thought I was a Gemini, but alas, I am not, and it depresses me.
Maybe. Depends. There are quite a few bloggers I would like to meet, but there are also a billion who I don't know. So, if I could just meet the ones I know, that would be cool. If I have to awkwardly sit with people I don't know, I wouldn't attend such a function.
Have you ever rejected someone?
Once. It was seventh grade. It was a good move.
If so, was it harshly?
Probably. I don't remember my wording. I just remember I felt mean and uncomfortable afterwords.
Did they cry?
No... At least not in my presence.
Have you ever tried a cigarette?
Oh goodness no. Cigarettes are quite possibly the number one grossest things ever. And they kill everyone, not just the smoker. I hate cigarettes.
Have you ever been high? If so, on what?
I've been high on life. That's it. No drugs for this kid.
What are six things you find attractive when in the opposite gender?
SIX?! You know, I watched the psychology seminar, and it was about how if someone has to name too many good things about a person, they will actually end up liking said person less. For example, Group A was asked to name 3 awesome traits about the person most special to them, and Group B was asked to name 10 awesome traits about the person who was most special to them. After the lists were compiled, both groups A and B had to rate how much they loved the person on a scale of 1-10. 1 being "eww, you're smelly and gross and a terrible excuse for a person" and 10 being "can we marry tomorrow?". Group A ranked their loves significantly higher than Group B.
So I might not put 6 things.
I like abdominal muscles.
I like someone who knows how to talk.
I like someone who is adventurous.
I like someone who is intelligent, maybe a little more than me.
Yep, you only get 4. Sorry bud.
What are five things you find extremely unattractive in the opposite gender?
Fake people. People who don't talk. People who are closed-minded.
Answer only if you have a sibling: If your sibling wasn't your sibling, do you think you'd ever find him/her attractive and go out with him/her?
I refuse to answer that. That is gross.
Would you ever eat a caterpillar?
No. I don't like these questions. Go away.
If yes, why?
I don't have to answer this.
If no, why?
GO AWAY, SURVEY MAKER. (I'm vegetarian, and caterpillar sounds icky)
Would you rather kiss a random stranger on the street of the opposite gender or tickle a random stranger on the street of the opposite gender?
This is so strange. I don't touch strangers. The end.
Would you rather throw up on stage or fart on stage?
You can't hide vomit. You can hide farts. The end.
Would you ever sneak out of the house at night?
Yes. I would. Not to do something illegal, but just for fun. Randomly.
Do you think this survey was weird?
I want to kill this survey. I don't care if I didn't answer your petty question. Angstangstangst.
Did you find it enjoyable?
No. Get out of my hair.
Which five bloggers will you be tagging to take this survey as well?
I won't make anyone do it. But if you want to, go for it. I'll love you and give you tons of cool points. (:

Well isn't this a rarity? Me posting twice in two days! WHOO!
I'm posting because I AM SO FLIPPIN' EXCITED FOR SUMMER CAMP.
I'm going to an spanish immersion camp for 2 weeks, and AH! I am so excited. My thoughts are not coherent, so don't judge me. Actually, do judge me, I don't really care.
Anywho, camp is a couple of months away, but I feel like it is just around the corner. It'll be in the woods over the summer, and I hate bugs with all of my being, but luckily the places I will be they have cleared so there should be less. Usually in a situation like this I would be super nervous and awkward and scared to go somewhere where I know no one, but I'm actually really excited. I'm not afraid I won't make friends at all. I mean, how could I live with these people for two whole weeks and not talk to them?
Also, the camp is beauuuuutiful. Really, really pretty.
Most importantly, I love spanish more than life itself. A lot of people say they hate it because they are lazy and obnoxious. I love it because it is beautiful and so eloquent and because when I speak it I don't even realize that it isn't my first, or even second language. Being my third language I would think I would be like "EW, LANGUAGE. GET OFF ME". But I adore it. I am so bloody excited to be with people who feel the same way, and who aren't 50 year old teachers.
Plus, I'm going to a few Spanish speaking cruises later on in the summer after camp, and I'm going to be such a pro at speaking with the locals. That's pretty exciting. I mean, my dad already is fluent, so he could talk for me if I blank, but I totally won't blank.
If you actually followed this, props to you. I'm such a better writer than comes through on my blog. It's a bit frustrating, but these are basically my thoughts pouring from my brain to the keyboard. Yay.
--nala
PS. I also get to eat food from spanish speaking countries the WHOLE TIME. And...they are going to make all vegetarian meals for me. Now isn't that considerate? I think sooo.

Hello again.
I'm horribly sorry for not posting in weeks, but I know nearly no one reads this so I don't feel bad. Woops.
In the news: The last day for my student teacher was today. She made us cookies, and apparently it was the first time she had ever baked.. It was awkward. She came to class and was like "Ugh I made you guys cookies last night." I was surprised that she wasn't happy about making the cookies, if I were her, I would be like "YAY I GOT TO BAKE SUGARY TREATS!". So I asked her if she had fun and she said that it wasn't a good experience. Later on in class we were about to pass them out, and she was like "Did you know that cookies are bad for you? I thought they just had flour and water, but oh no! They have so much sugar and butter!"
...
Yes, I am being completely serious. None of that was exaggerated an ounce. I feel like I should mention that my teacher is a bit overweight, not obese or anything, but she is a bit plump. And now I understand why. She has no idea what is in her food. Heck, if I thought all was in cookies was flour and water, I would eat them for every single meal and not feel bad at all.
Anyway, these cookies were WEIRD LOOKING. They were really thick with a diameter of, oh, an inch and a half. So, pretty small for a cookie, but really thick. It was strange. They tasted... interesting, as a classmate put it when my student teacher asked for an opinion. Then our teacher told us that they might taste a bit different because... wait for it.............. they had wheat flour in them. SCANDAL! Ha, I kid. A bunch of people thought she said that they had "weed flour" in them. I laughed. Only my class would say that to a teacher.
Our class often makes drug references. Usually I wouldn't think it was funny, but my class is comprised of pretty much zero druggies, which is amazing because my school has lots of high people everyday. So on 4/20 we brought brownies and people joked that they were pot brownies, which they most definitely WERE NOT. I love the people in that class.
4/20 is a weird holiday. The smart ones among you are probably like "OH! HITLER'S BIRTHDAY!". If you think that, you probably have not been inducted into the high school life of an American. 4/20 is the day where a bunch of people are high and smoke marijuana in the bathroom. It's gross, but the thing I hate the most is that I can't always tell when someone is high. Like, if I'm going to be around someone whose brain isn't at a normal state, I would like to know so that I can be aware and such. Drunk people are so much easier to spot.
Nothing else of excitement has happened.. There are 12 class periods left until finals. Hoo boy. There are 4 until AP tests. I am not prepared. Oh well.

It is so nice outside. Oh my goodness it makes me happy. Not too hot, and a cool breeze. I love it. A couple of my friends and I just sat outside yesterday after school and took in the sun. Twas fantastic.
Anywho, my darling Hannah (exchange student, not sparkler) is coming in just a few short days! Isn't that exciting!? I'm so pumped to see her. She is basically the older sister that I never get to see, which is pretty depressing. I'm pretty sure I already blogged about this exciting event a while ago though, so I'll stop blabbering for now.
On another note, school ends in like 7 weeks. Can you believe that?! I'm excited. Well, that doesn't include finals week, but finals week is kind of exciting.
Finally, my friend showed me this song, and if you want to get up and dance, you should totally listen! Click, my darlings! Cliiiiiiiiick :)
That is all for now.

Consider me happy and free.
Yes, I did change my template because I am happy and just learned how.
I had the best day yesterday/this afternoon. Seriously. Nothing could've been better. Let's do this thing.
Friday morning: Wake up and go to school. I had tea, so my taste buds were happy.
First Block: EHAP. My teacher was slaphappy, and as a 70 year old man, did an Irish Jig in front of class. It was hilarious, and I was explosively happy.
Third Block (I only had odd blocks): I took the standardized assesment, and upon completing it began watching "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". But what I really did was listen to my acquaintance talk about drugs, which was enlightening. Not that I plan to start them.
Fifth Block: Best drama class yet. All the lovely freshman all gathered around and we started telling jokes. The circle went like so:
Gibby: The hilariously awkward kid, who is dating Charlotte. He read most of the jokes.
Ian: Classic jock, he messes with kids about being gay, but secretly I think he is gay.
Dancerboy: You know about him. I don't like him anymore, but we are still friends. He got a haircut, and looks like Edward.
Charlotte: The dirty girl who doesn't care if you know it. She is cool for sure. Dating Gibby.
Me: Quiet in that class, and the resident "indie" kid. I'm not really indie though, so don't believe that.
Christine: The perfect goodie-goodie. Extremely innocent.
Hovering- William: One of the most annoying kids ever. I don't think he gets sex jokes. He is very loud though. He didn't really talk much.. Or laugh.
So we were in the circle, and we were just telling jokes. They started out harmless, and then we went to antijokes. And then we got on a reddit thread of "Offensive Jokes". As Gibby read the jokes to the group his voice got softer and softer. Our sub actually fell asleep. The dirtier the joke, the softer his voice. The jokes were EXTREMELY offensive to every single minority possible. Still, we laughed. By the middle, we decided that we were all going to hell. They were jokes that you would slap yourself for laughing at, but you just couldn't help it. On occasion William would ask what a joke meant. We just couldn't bring ourselves to answering, they were that bad. While I sat there I realized that this is what I missed from my old group of friends in 7th grade. We were all a community, joining because of a similar sense of humor. For the record, I am not at all racist, sexist, or prejudiced to any groups of people. Neither are the people in that group. They just know how to laugh. At first I felt bad laughing, and I didn't know if I should. But then we were all like, "Hell, we know this stuff is funny, and sometimes you just need to have time like this". If I were to wish for one thing I would wish these kind of community moments would happen more often. Not necessarily being a community because of offensive jokes, but any community where people just get a side of me. I'm definitely the girl who was yelling "KINDNESS!" while laughing uncontrollably. So, yeah I guess the main point is that I had the best time with them.
Seventh Block: In Spanish we just did a lot of silly learning things. They weren't too bad, and I was so slaphappy, I couldn't care if they were boring.
Then after school I talked to my friend Meghan whom I have missed dearly lately. She is one of those people that gives you tons of compliments and makes you feel awesome. I passed by her while walking with a couple of other friends, and stopped to talk to her and she was like, "Thais! Oh how I have missed you darling. I love you so much prettylady...". She also said a bunch of other stuff, but I don't feel like transcribing our conversation. Basically, she puts me on top of the world. I came home and ate Chipotle, which was beyond delicious. I proceeded to get online and look at whatever I wanted. I chatted with a few people, videochatted Janie, and then went to the book of faces where I talked to Jessica about attractive men, which was one of the most lovely conversations I have had in forever. Definitely was a community moment, even if she is just one person. People full of awesome are worth like 3 people. Yeps.
Finally I went to asleep at 12:14pm, and woke up at 11:55am today. Well rested I ate ice cream for breakfast, and a tuna sandwich with red peppers and cheese. Then I talked to Tia again (finally) and at 4:56 the father came in and asked if I wanted to go to church. Upon my answering "No" he left, symbolizing my freedom! Ah, I am so excited. The parents have officially given up on me. It feels so good.

I don't think hormones cause my mood swings.
So, I am going to the BEST CAMP EVER this summer to learn Spanish even more than I am learning now. I am so pumped. I got the huge packet of greatness today. It had my "passport" and all the information about camp and everything awesome that will be happening. I was grinning from ear to ear and just.. it was magical, really. I haven't been that happy in forever. I mean, I've been happy, but not grin-ear-to-ear happy. So then I dashed upstairs gleefully skipping. Then my father calls for me to come and throw my apple away. Grr. I was hoping mom would do that for me. So, I bring my phone, blaring my music down and throw away the stupid apple. Then I get a list of other stuff to do (dishes, set the table, put my crap away blahblahblah) FINALLY, once I finish, I stomp up to my room, where I am now. I am blaring my music. And I am angry.
My parents demands make me have mood swings.
On a lighter note, I had an awesome vacation, and I'll be returning to school tomorrow! Why am I excited? I haven't a clue. Let's get this quarter over with so I can go to camp, right?
Empowered,
Nala

Psych. Flattery. Break.
So, the Psych classes every year do this thing where two people have one person blindfolded, and bring them to different rooms in the school to see if the blindfolded person will know what classroom it is. So, today two groups of kids came in with their blindfolded people to my english class. My teacher is mexican, and can speak spanish, so when they came in we all started saying random words in Spanish. Here's what the kiddos walked in to.
Teacher: AY AY AY! Mis estudiantes! Callate!
Student A: HOLAAAAAA! Como estas?
Student B: ARRRRRRRIBA!
Student C: FUI, FUI, DI, VINE, TUVE, HICE, PUSE, Y ESTUVE, QUISE, PUDE, SUPE, DIJE, TRAJE, Y ANDUUUUUUVE.
Student D: Donde. Estan. Mis. Pantalones.
Student E: En sus piernas?
Student F: No! Perdilos!
Student G (me): Ay dios mio...
Blindfolded kid: Uhm... Spanish one class?
My English class: heeheeehee, you have been tricked!
Yes, we were annoying. No, we don't care.
Then later in drama my duet partner and I were working on a scene in British English, and this girl who I did NOT know was British was like, "Uhm, you suck at sounding British. Just fyi". So I told her that she gets to teach me the ways now. I think I'm doing alright. I realized that I still make my vowels too harsh for a British person.
Alsooooo, there is the most ADORABLE girl in my drama class and she dresses so perfectly and fashionably every single day. And guess what? She adopted my style for today! Without telling me it was going to happen. But she I come in, and she's like, "Guess who I'm stealing my trends from today?" And I was like, "Uhm.. Teen Vogue like everyday?" And she's like, "No silly! You! You little trendsetter, you." Needless to say, I'm flattered. I loved her so much, and she's just racking up points on the "Flatter Thais and You Win More Points" meter.
Lastly, I'm going to escape tomorrow. Spring Break. Yes. I can't decide whether or not I'll bring my Macipoo, but if I do, hopefully I won't use it too much. I need some serious relaxation time to clear my head.
--nala <3
P.S. iPad 2's go on sale tomorrow at 5pm. My dad already decided that we are getting one if they aren't all sold out. They better not be. I love being a part of a Mac family.

Last night was great, great fun. My friends and I accumlated 3 inside jokes and drove to Sonic, by ourselves. With no parental figures. It was totally legal though, no worries. Then we shoved our faces full of pizza and then talked some more, nearly cried because we never see each other and then they left. We have planned to meet up again in 2 weeks once spring break starts. :)
Moving right along to dancer boy! I only have class with him 3 days of the week, which is not a lot. So I had class with him yesterday and according to my girl-who-is-dilusional meter, we are making great strides towards a better friendship at least. We now have sit next to each other every class and yesterday after both our groups were done rehearsing, we went over to the call board to look at a cast list, and he leaned up against the SIDE of me, you dirty minded people. Seeing as we weren't even friends before Monday, I am very happy with the turn of events. The only mild problem is that with becoming closer to me, he has become closer to my friend who is super cute and may also like his face.
Current Infatuation Level: Down from last time, but he's still adorable. (7.3)

Nothing makes me happier than seeing friends whom I haven't seen since summer. They are coming over right now. I'm so excited and I had to share with cyberspace. I'll give your pretty faces an update on Dancer Boy hopefully tonight. I love you all.
So so so so excited,

The World likes playing games with me.
I got a haircut today. Now my hair is short, maybe so short I will have to straighten in for a few weeks... I hope not. Straightening takes so much time.. Anyway, I like it a lot. The lady straightened it so it looks marvelous. I greatly enjoy my bangs now too. YAY :)
So I went to the park with my mother to "bond" and take pictures because A) I rarely talk to my mother outside of "Can I do this/have that?" type talk, and B) so that I will have proof that my hair has been straightened. So we are walking to the park, and crossing the street when I hear my name being called. I look behind me and sweet mother of pearl, the guy I had a minor, okay major, crush on was saying hello. And WHOOSH the surge of lust came back. What about dancer boy? Dancer boy is way sweeter. Ah, stupid mind. Oh, here is a loverly description of dancer boy:
-brown, curly hair.
-my height
-brown eyes
-I'm guessing abs of steel
-large smile
-smart brain

I love dancers.
Male dancers. I think I'm in love. Or a strong, strong case of lust. So, there is this guy in my drama class. He's a freshman, so a grade younger than me, but the same age. He's really quiet usually, and he's a hipster sorta, but he is the sweetest guy I have ever met. And he dances. He dances well. He's so good I could melt. I'm ranting. ahhhhhh :) So in drama today he started dancing and it was so attractive. I don't even know. I've never really liked guys who were involved in theatre, but... oh my. He's in so many dance classes. I think jazz, leaps and turns, ballet and lyrical? But ballet is the one I like the best. He is so flexible. It's crazy. So. Attractive. I hate it when I know my mind is playing games with me. But, ah well, such is life. The greatest part is that the one person I genuinely don't like at school, he also doesn't like. We shared stories of annoyance. He was playing around on my phone and he saw that literally all eight of my Safari windows were open to various blogs, sparklife, and buzz and he didn't even annoyingly ask what they all were. Granted, he has now seen my blog, but he didn't read it and doesn't know it is mine.
One problem though. He may be gay. Just like every guy I have an infatuation with, of course. When he was looking through my webpages, he was doing so because another friend of mine was looking at pictures of attractive guys. And then today this kid named Ian was like," *********, you are so gay." And he just chuckled. Like he didn't get defensive like most guys. I stood up for him and was like "Hey, Ian, can we use kind language please?" and yeah, Ian is a creep at times, but I know he has a good heart. He's just a really touchy-feely guy. With everyone...
Anywho, that was probably the dumbest ramble I have ever let leave my mind.
Time for funny quotes from the week:
Chemistry Teacher: So we are going to learn about condoms... I mean, combinations. Not condoms. No teaching about condoms.
Chemistry Teacher: Yeah, at army school we didn't stuff ourselves in minivans, but we definitely streaked across campus...
Class: Uhm, gross. TMI.
Student A: So, Mr. T, why don't we use fahrenheit in science?
Teacher: Well, I'm not sure.
Student A: We totally should use it. I mean, celsius makes NO. SENSE.
Me (muttering): It makes perfect sense...
Student D (mocking student A, and talking to me): We live in A-mur-i-cahh, we don't get the international's ways.
byebye!

Me: I can't believe we are going to have a five day week for the first time since before Christmas.
Brother: Awwwh, no.
Me: It's going to be terrible.
Brother: It's going to be rough.
Me: Yerp, really rough.
Brother: And long.
Me: Indeed, rough and long.
Brother: THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! HAHAHAHAHA.
Me: *slaps brother*
Me: I can't wait until Hamilton comes back.
Mom: Why?
Me: So that my dear, dear brother will stop using my computer.
Brother: Heeeeeeeheeee! I'm going to get a computer!
Me: I hate sharing with you. That's why I changed my password... *evil grin*
Mom: You should tell him your password because his computer is going to be nicer that yours. *evil smile*
Me: Oh really? What is he getting? Because I'm pretty sure my Macipoo is the greatest.
Mom: A.. Uhm.. G-5
Me and Brother: **headtable**
Me: Mom, Apple stopped making G4's YEARS ago.
Mom: Oh, so what are they now?
Me: Macbooks.
Mom: Hmm..

Driving.
My mom is not a very good driving teacher. So, I've been driving for over a year now. It's been pretty good, nothing too serious has happened, I haven't crashed. The thing is, I always drive with my dad. Until this week when I drove with my mother. First off, my mom is not the best driver. She texts, talks, and surfs the web while driving, and quite honestly, it is quite frightening. So, my driving should not scare her. For some reason, she FREAKS OUT. She's like, "Watch the road!" "Be careful!" "Be ready to brake!" "Look out for pedestrians!" ...And this all happens when I'm on a one lane road with not a car in sight. So, naturally when we go on the freeway she should be having a heart-attack, right? Well, no. That is when she pulls out her iPhone, and fiddles with it while I drive in rush hour traffic. It makes no sense. Also, my mom thinks she is the best parker ever. Apparently her driving teacher said she was the best he had ever seen, and she sticks by that. So when I try to park it's a total fail to her, and she grabs the steering wheel, tells me to creep into the space and then when we have nearly hit a car she is like "WHY ARE YOU STEERING LIKE THAT?!". Awesome, mother. YOU are holding the steering wheel. I'm annoyed just writing this. I'm done. The U.S. needs a train system.

The Phases of my Vegetarianism.
You probably know some veggie-tarians. They are really cool, you look up to their willpower, and weirdly healthy diets. Or, you hate them. Stupid tree-huggers, animals are here to eat. Gosh. I personally, decided to change my meat filled diet to one void of it a year and a half ago. I am now here to tell you what that journey has done for me, and the different phases I went through when I changed my diet.
Phase 1: Strength and Pride
During this phase, I was super proud of my decision, and I was really adamant on not eating meat. My friend being the silly goose she is, took me out to steak the third day of my vegetarianism. Her dad tried to get me to eat the mouthwatering steak, but I just wouldn't do it. I knew that if I made little exceptions all the time, it would never happen. Also, I thought being vegetarian was really cool.
Phase 2: You'll never keep it up.
During this phase, people always told me that I would never be a veggie for long. They would say, "Oh, that isn't so bad! I bet I could do it for a month". During this stage I was frustrated. People just thought they could do whatever. My willpower was almost giving up at this point, but I reinforced my decisions by watching movies like "Food Inc." to keep my on track.
Phase 3: This is easy.
By this time, I knew what to do to get around cravings of meat. I would eat soy based stuff and Tofurky almost daily. It wasn't a problem not eating meat. Not at all.
Phase 4: There are a lot of veggie foods.
At this point I was bored of meat substitutes, and I knew I didn't really need them. They also tasted gross.
Phase 5: Family Matters.
With family I always eat meat if we are home because my family only buys organic. If we eat out, I don't eat the meat because those animals were ill-treated.
There you go. I wrote this over a couple days, so my tenses might be off, but I have a headache and don't want to edit.
Much love,
Thais

sew cool.
I think I love sewing. Some people hate it, and I was one of those people nearly my entire life. I thought it was stupid. Why would anyone sew if they could just BUY the clothes? Plus, everything that people sewed themselves was dumb. Ugly skirts, shirts with no shape, and pants with no butt were all big contenders in the things you could make. Now though, I know that the skills I learned in a semester of sewing will help me a ton more than the year of my core classes. Where am I going with this, you ask?
Well. Last night when I bought that hairband, I thought it was a headband because it's bigger than just a circle of elastic. I wish I could show you a picture but I will try to describe it.
-half an inch (a centimeter and a half-ish) wide
-really thin
-black and silver
-mostly black, but there is a line of silver randomly placed to the side.
-circumference of about... 5 inches? (almost 13 centimeters)
^terrible explanation.
Anywho, so I got in the car ready to try this thing on (I wasn't going to do so in the store, because that is gross), and I untied it because it was tied at the bottom. And the thing fell apart. So at this point, it's just a line of elastic. So, I tied it back together and noticed that either A) my head is huge or B) this isn't a headband.
Fast forward to me waking up this morning.
I woke up with a brilliant idea: take the thing apart again, and then sew the ends together so that I can use it as a headband. So, using my sewing skills, I handsew the ends together. Then I did another sewing technique where you make a secret stitch basically. It's called the slip stitch, and it's really easy to do, but I'm terrible at explaining things so if you are DYING to know, click here.
Anyway, the moral of the story is, take your sewing class if you can. It actually *is* really helpful throughout your life and I'm really glad I took it. I mean, if I hadn't taken it, I might have done a simple stitch, but the headband wouldn't have stayed together. With the skills I learned in that class I was able to salvage my failed hairband into a headband that is currently atop my head.
Gosh I feel old in this post.
Sew long! Farewell!

ps. there are sew many sew puns.

I ACED IT!
So, that EHAP test I was talking about? Yeah, I aced that puppy. :D :D :D No one could believe it, not even me. People really don't believe in my smartie-pantsness.
Also, I went shopping! It was very very fun. :) I got some pants. And a shirt. And another shirt. I love them. I also got a hair band. It's shiny :)
Anywhoodle, the pants make me feel awesome. They are my new confidence pants. I mean seriously, nothing beats them. From now on, I'll probably have to beat down swarms of attractive young men away with a stick. So maybe I'm delusional, but I really do like them. A lot.
Final note: It's Kansas Day. How exciting?

I'm so sorry, but I'm having troubles with getting my snow pictures to work. Today I'm just doing a recap of my week. I hope to write a better post sometime soon, but I'm really bogged down, and I want to supply you with *something* to read.
Oh, EHAP stands for European History AP.
Off we go!
Funny quotes of the week:
EHAP teacher: "Jacob, are you raising your hand or playing the air trumpet?"
Also EHAP teacher: "So, you guys can have a party Friday. But I forgot to tell 2nd, 4th, and 6th hours.. heehee. woops. " My teacher had a mischievous grin on his face when he said this.
Annoying quotes of the week:
Student teacher for English: "Okay, put the markers away. You are honors students, I believe you can do it. " The most annoying part is that she ACTUALLY thought we might not be able to.
Every student ever: "I'M DOING IB NEXT YEAR!" Ugh, IB is about becoming a family. I will not become a family with people this obnoxious. Additionally, I'm pretty good acquaintances with some people that don't like each other. Yay for being in the middle of potential tension.
Math Teacher: "So if you didn't finish your test, even though I said you could go back and finish, I just counted them wrong." No explanation needed.
Best things of the week:
-It has been pretty low stress :)
-MY FORMER EXCHANGE STUDENT IS COMING TO VISIT IN A COUPLE MONTHS! She is like the older sister I've always wanted. I'm extremely excited that she is coming. It will be amazing. I'm hoping she will be able to take me out of school to go to lunch and fun little things like that. I miss her terribly.
-My desk is gone! My room is so awesome now. I have a papasan chair, and I'm currently sitting in it. It is fantastic.
-I've been able to better get to know this girl. :D
Plans for next week:
-Rock my drama project.
-Stay positive.
-Eat some ice cream. This is a legitimate goal. I haven't had any in a while.
Favorite new discovery: Pretty Eyes by Alex Goot. He is amazing. I love his voice.
Finally:
Highest High this week: EHAP test, no doubt.
Lowest low: The realisation that next year won't be nearly as fantastic as I have hoped. I left everything for this school, and now the program that I was finally getting really excited for is deteriorating. Hopefully I will make some new friends, try some new stuff. Who knows.

some lists for your reading pleasure.
Hi peoples. My writing skills are even worse than usual right now, so I'm making some lists. Lists are fun.
Things I enjoy:
-Awesomely normal conversations with people you haven't spoken to in awhile.
-Walking on frozen lakes that have a foot of snow on them.
-Stomping your name in the snow on the lake.
-Making a snowman on the lake.
-Playing with your puppy.
-Going to places you went to when you were little.
-Being motivated to do homework.
-Funny people.
-Accents.
Things I don't enjoy:
-Middle-aged men talking to me about the snowman I am building on the lake.
-My awkwardness at talking to strangers.
-People who don't respect snow.
-The fact I am completely lost on how my life is going to go next year.
-The even worse fact I don't think I can take Spanish 5 High Level for IB.
-Having many many tests this week.
-Not being motivated to do homework.
-Being caught off guard.
-People who talk on Facebook about how lovely their friends are and what they did and blahblahblah. Do you really need to prove that to me? I honestly don't care.
Things that I wish I could do with ease, but can't:
-Watch Oprah without getting frustrated at how she talks. Arg.
-Take math tests.
-Plan.
-Talk to my mother.
-Talk to my friends.
-Wake up in the morning.
Wow, that sounds depressing.
Get well, Janie. I hope I scared the sickies away :)

Investment Children
So, I had a dream a couple nights ago. I'm not sure the the dream took place present day, or the future, but it got me thinking. In this dream parents had lots of babies in order to have an "investment child". This child was the smart one, the athletic one, the musical one, the pretty one. This child was going to make the most money when they grew up. So once the parents decided on the investment child, they put all their money towards the investment child. They made investments. The other children may have done one or two fun things outside of school, but they had to just try their best and hope they could get into college.
In my dream, I was not the investment child of my family. My brother was the investment child. My brother was an amazing soccer (or football for those of you not in America) player. He played everyday. He had skill training on top of normal practices. He devoted every weekend to tournaments and games. He had aspirations to play in high school. Also, he got good grades, he was naturally smart and had girls fawning over him all the time. He played percussion in band, but also played his drum kit at home. He had experience playing piano. He had done everything, and not only that, but he had done everything well.
In my dream the reason for an investment child was so that they could get full scholarships to college, and be the shining star of the family. The one that the parents brag over. "Oh yes, Jacob has just gotten into Yale with soccer. I know he will do so well there! He has a 4.6 GPA--never got a B in high school, much less a C, like the other child."
I guess the point of me writing out this dream is that I think that the world is getting to be way too competitive. I know this is how we progress at a faster pace, but by golly, do we really need to be so competitive? The school system is flawed in so many ways I could write an entire series about it. Getting into sports becomes more of a how-rich-is-your-family thing nowadays. Premier Soccer costs a lot of money once you get to high levels. People have all but forgotten about inner-beauty. Beauty has become more about how stunning you look, and less about who you are inside. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that people perceived as beautiful get paid more than those who are just mediocre looking. It all sounds so silly, I know, but it's true. If you want to be good at playing an instrument, you will probably have to buy it. And pay for lessons. And repairs. People with true talent, and beauty, and intelligence will be looked over. I personally believe the best soccer players in Brasil are in the favelas. These kids don't have much, but they have soccer. They can play all day long. They are free from the bindings of the rich kids, going to private schools, who can only play after everything "important" is done. Gosh, I'm rambling. Anyway, I suppose this is all just food for thought. Take it with a grain of salt.

Pretty? Or Pretty Ugly?
I changed my template again. The whole this-is-a-journal-book-thing wasn't working out for me. But I think I like this. I hope you like it. I want it to be relaxing, and since I don't have the skills to design my own, I just chose this one... You like?
Today I talked to my best friends', best friend, Sarah. She is awesome, and we share a lot of the same interests, and obviously this friend. She said it felt like she had known me forever :). It was quite nice, and not awkward, which is a feat for me. Being awkward is one of the easiest things in the world, right next to sleeping and finding an excuse not to exercise.
I think my eyes are going bad. I sit at the computer a lot. This is probably hurting my eyesight, but... such is life.
Adios!

PS. I got the Super Star designation in Spanish. I'm still pretty thrilled about it. Finally my efforts are paying off. Who cares if all I get is one measly point and a penned in star on the last column of my worksheet? It means I have learned something and can apply those things to normal conversation without stuttering like the rest of my class. I'm happy :)

The End of Break.
Today is the last day of break. It is quite quite sad. Honestly, I didn't even do very much, but I want to write out everything I did so that I will A) feel mildly accomplished, and B) finally blog again.
Day 0: OUT OF SCHOOL! whoowhoo! I went to a breakfast place with my friend despite the fact it was 1:00 in the afternoon. I felt like a rebel, but this little adventure wasn't rebellious at all.
Day 1: The power went out in my neighborhood and the surrounding ones. So, I didn't do much. I basically made a fort, and slept under 15 blankets. It was fun, don't judge. (:
Day 2: I went caroling. It was super cute and fun. We all wore our Christmas hats, and looked just like in the movies. Also, people actually opened their doors, which was nice because it was absolutely freezing.
Day 3: Christmas Eve! My parents went last minute shopping and, well, I did a post about that day, so you hopefully maybe already read it.
Day 4: Christmas! Well, since we open our presents on Christmas Eve, there really isn't much to do on Christmas day, other than videochatting my friend. It was enjoyable.
Day 5: Boxing Day... yeah. Well, I went to my friend's house. We acted like crazy-faces, and planned a flashmob. Currently 4 people have committed. It doesn't matter though because we will recruit more. We are going to flashmob to the song "Whip my Hair", and if we follow through, it will be awesome.
Day 6: Still at my friends house. We went shopping, but I wasn't aware and didn't bring money, which was very sad. When I got home, I had a letter from Janie in the mail. It was absolutely fantastic. I ran downstairs and couldn't contain myself.
Day 7: Hung out with myself. Nothing exciting.
Days 8 and 9: I can't even remember what happened. This is so strange. (edit: Oh, I was babysitting..)
Day 10: New Years Eve. Basically this day involved me forever being stuck in the past according to Adi and Jay, and they wouldn't go more than a few minutes without letting me know that I was in the past. I also babysat.
Day 11: New Years. I watched a movie in Chinese (there were subtitles). It was a really cute movie about these couples. It was called "Hot Summer Days". I wish I could say I learned a tiny bit of Chinese, but I did not. I still only know "hello" and "thank you". Anyway, the movie was cute, really, really cute. It was well done, although there were some animated fish in a fish tank.. That was a bit funny. (:
Day 12: Hi, people. Day 12 is today. It is my last day of break, and I cringe at the thought of filling my brain with knowledge once again. It isn't learning I'm afraid of, it's the fact that I need to do really well this time around. I need to try harder, even though I honestly think I tried my hardest last semester. I need to retain the information that is brought to me in pages and pages of worksheets and books. There is no variety in the way school presents information, and so I think I'm going to have to find a way to teach myself. I'm sure it's the only way for me to learn. Online school sounds really appealing at the moment... Almost as appealing as Montessori does. Or a school based on discussion. I would do so much better. Anywho, I'm not really doing anything today. I'll probably read a few more pages of my AP Euro book, but that's it.
tootle-oo my dears :)
